How to make screen recordings on your iphone

I’m on iphone iOS 27, if that helps…

I could make a video capture of my experience, but I haven’t gotten around to finding a good iOS app for that. By chance do you know of a good one?

Here’s how to use the built-in iPhone screen recorder: add Screen Recording to Control Center if it isn’t there, open Control Center, tap the gray Record button, wait for the 3-second countdown, and then leave Control Center to record. To stop, tap the red recording indicator at the top of the screen and confirm stop, or open Control Center and tap the red Record button again.[1]

Add the control

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Control Center.
  3. Add Screen Recording if it is not already included.[1]

Record with sound

  • Touch and hold the Screen Recording control to open options.
  • Tap the Microphone button if you want to capture your voice too.
  • Tap Start Recording to begin after the countdown.[2][1]

Find the video

Your recording saves automatically in the Photos app, where you can view, edit, or share it.[1]

Cool! Thanks for that. Hilarious how AI search results (is that duck duck go or google?) provide 10 sources. And so many of them are youtube videos!

My personal experience the steps were a bit different. I found it directly on the control center. A long press away from the buttons gave me a UI to remove existing controls and to add a new one. I found screen recording and added it.

Doing a screen recording is super easy, just like your instructions. To stop recording I selected the red record button that appears at the top.

After saving my recording, I opened it in the quicktime player on my laptop and exported it at lower quality so that I could upload it to github. That can work here as well - we can take uploads of tens of megabytes directly in topics which is handy for working through issues directly here rather than relying on google drive or some other cloud file sharing.

This will be super helpful for reporting problems and asking for help with doing things on mobile.
